Beautiful vintage hand-carved Burmese (Myanmar) marionette puppet, traditionally known as Yoke Thé. Large example measuring approximately 32 inches tall, including original carved wooden feet, hands, head, and full costume. Features real fiber hair, painted expressive theatrical face, sequined collar, embroidered jacket, and patterned textile skirt with metallic thread accents.
Includes the original wooden crossbar controller with tangled performance strings still attached. Shows visible age, flaking paint, wood splits at the legs, and worn fabric from use and handling—consistent with authentic stage puppetry from Southeast Asia. Hand-labeled “BURMA (MYANMAR)” on underside of foot.
These puppets were historically used in traveling theater performances and cultural storytelling, often representing royal or noble characters, mythical spirits, or traditional figures. Excellent as an authentic folk art display, ethnic décor, theatrical collectible, or restoration piece.
