Description
For sale is an iconic vintage late 1980s Samsonite Oyster rigid hardshell suitcase in the classic Charcoal Grey finish. This is the legendary "Oyster" model that revolutionized travel as the first suitcase to feature a secure three-point locking system and a virtually indestructible injection-molded shell.
Despite being used for over 30 years, this case remains incredibly sturdy. It features the original integrated smooth-rolling wheels and a "pick up" handle for easy towing. The rubber gasket seal ensures a water-resistant closure, making it a much more reliable choice for protecting gear than many modern fabric alternatives.
Key Features:
Wheeled Design: Original two-wheel upright system with a pull-out handle for easy maneuverability through airports.
3-Point Locking System: Secure central combination lock with two heavy-duty side latches.
Tank-Like Durability: High-impact polypropylene shell built to survive decades of baggage handling.
Security: The current combination lock code will be supplied to the buyer.
Condition Note:
In good working order. Shows obvious surface scratches, scuffs, and "battle scars" from 30+ years of travel, but no cracks or structural damage. The main carry handle is slightly deformed/curved (a common vintage trait) but functions perfectly. Wheels and tow handle are fully operational.
