A totally correct & exceptionally original example of a rare UK market, RHD drophead, supplied new in 1955 by The Woodcote Motor Co, Epsom. Sound condition, cosmetically mature & appealing, retaining original, mellowed tan leather interior, and of nicely understated specification with disc wheels and spats. The paint shows its age in a quite charming way, the chrome work is very good to excellent, and the overall appearance is seductively appealing. One owner from 1974 to 2015, and one since. Just 6,000 odd miles covered during that fifty years! Recent work has included a new stainless exhaust, new clutch, complete re-wire and a good deal more besides. Comes with a Jaguar heritage certificate confirming original specification and colour scheme, and a folder of invoices from recent years showing parts expenditure, etc. Driving very nicely, sounding great, and fun to whizz around in! Very few survive in such undisturbed condition!

Chassis No. 807260. Reg No. YPC 555

Snippets:The Name is Bond.

It is very difficult to work out who the first owner of YPC 555 was as we have two gentlemen who fit the bill, father & son. Perhaps someone out there can help us to work out which one it is.Lt. Gerald Aubrey Bond (1898/1967) served as sharpshooter during WWI with the London Regiment & in 1917 was awarded the Military Cross (group of 3) for his heroic deeds at Passchendaele. The citation states the MC was for: conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on several occasions when bringing up rations and material to the front line on pack animals, over very difficult country and under almost continuous shell fire. In spite of casualties to animals and a stampede caused by shells, he never failed to deliver the whole of the stores. His son Graham Forbes Bond was an active member of the British Motor Racing Marshals Club. He was married to Georgina Crossman, the daughter of Peter Crossman of the Watney Mann Brewing chain who in 1962 bought the Tetworth Hall estate. According to local legend the Hall was requisitioned during WWII and it housed Italian & German PoWs. Was there a direct link with the secret operation going on at Tempsford Airfield? Local gossip had it that there must have been spies living there as sometimes lights were seen in the upstairs windows!!!The Bond link with spies lives on

About us

The Real Car Company Ltd The Real Car Company was established in 1987 by Ray Arnold & Ian Johnstone to specialise in the sale of early Rolls-Royce and Bentley. It was a hobby that 'Got out of hand'. Our interest in cars of the type that we now sell goes back to our childhoods, and ownership back to the 1970s. Gradually more cars started passing through our hands, and by 1986 we had decided to make a full-time occupation of buying and selling the cars that we love. We started with a single car (all we could afford) which we sold quickly, and before we knew it we had 4 or 5 on our hands! This was alongside another business (exhaust systems) that we were involved in at the time. In the spring of 1988 we gave up the other business, rented part of the premises that we still operate from now, and went full time. We started well in the boom years of the late eighties, which set us up well enough for us to ride the storm of recession in the years that followed. As the years went on the number of cars going through our hands increased gradually, we built up a workforce, and we now carry a stock of around 30 to 40 vehicles with nine of us here. Over the years we have gratefully received awards from the motoring press. We are always interested in acquiring cars of the type that we sell so if you know of a Rolls-Royce or Bentley for sale, anywhere in the World, particularly an early model, please let us know.
