In 1944 Mrs Victoria Helen McRae Duncan (nee McFarlane, 25/11/1897 to 06/12/1956) became the last British woman to be sent to prison under the Witchcraft Act of 1735.

This Newspaper contains an account of her trial at the Old Bailey.

It is in fact the third main story in the paper after the Russian advance on Odessa and the death in an air crash of British war Hero Major General Wingate. There was after all a war on! I am sure that it would have been the main headline in peacetime.

The paper is the Daily Mail of Saturday 1st April 1944. An amusing coincidence as it IS a genuine story and not an April Fool's joke. (If you Google her name this is soon confirmed in her entry). It has only four pages due to wartime restrictions on paper use.

A wonderful addition to any collection centred around the occult or present for a Wiccan friend.

From the estate of my late father in law (1996). I have stored it flat since then but it will be posted loosely folded into quarters as he stored it (last photo).
