Yamaha SG1000 Brown Sunburst 1982 Used Electric Guitar 1982

Based on the serial number and pickup date, this guitar is believed to be from 1982. Early SG models, produced from the 1960s onwards, featured a unique body shape tailored to the group sounds scene of the time.

However, from the 1970s onwards, the shape shifted to one more consciously designed for the SG. Its popularity skyrocketed after Carlos Santana began using it, and during the fusion boom in Japan, Masayoshi Takanaka and Issei Noro started using SGs.

Even today, John Frusciante favors this older SG series, which is no longer in production, and it enjoys enduring popularity. The clean tone, when played with the bridge pickup, is vibrant and energetic, with high frequencies that are not harsh and are fully usable.

With the neck pickup, you can comfortably play everything from dry blues tones to sweet jazz tones. When plugged into a gain-type amplifier, it produces a powerful tone, and due to the body's thickness, it sounds similar to a Les Paul.

It's suitable for jazz, blues, rock, and even genres where lead playing is the main focus, such as fusion, offering a rich, sustained tone. Mahogany body with maple top.

The neck is a 3-piece set-neck construction of mahogany/maple/mahogany. The fingerboard is made of ebony.

The neck shape is just right, neither too thin nor too thick. It is equipped with Yamaha original pickups, and the pickup covers are a unique semi-open type.

The controls consist of 2 volume, 2 tone, and a 3-way pickup selector. The tone pot is a push/push type, and it is equipped with a "Bi-Sound System" that allows for individual coil tapping. [Condition] There are signs of use commensurate with its age, such as scratches, dents, and rust on the parts.

The paint has a cloudy appearance typical of Yamaha guitars, and while it is less noticeable on the body top, it is more pronounced on the sides and back. Neck: There are no particular issues with warping or twisting.

Frets: Approximately 60-70% remaining, with some indentations overall, but there are no issues with fret buzz at present. Truss rod: There is plenty of adjustment range.
