This is a WW1 real photographic postcard showing the launching of Burney's Paravane from a British Battleship. The Burney Paravane was invented by Lieutenant Burney Royal Navy around 1916 and was an anti-mine device used to cut the Mines' mooring cable. The card has not been posted but I would estimate that it dates around 1918. please also see the other card I have listed this evening showing a close up of the Burney Paravane.
