He was a student in Eugène Disdéri's Paris studio. In 1858 he opened with Antoine-René Trinquart on Rue Cadet on the 9th floor. Paris arrondissement his own studio. This was followed by branches in Baden-Baden and Marseille. Petit was the official photographer at the 1867 Paris Universal Exhibition. He visited New York several times and documented the construction progress on the Statue of Liberty there. Several photos of the siege of Paris from 1870/1871 and of the construction of the Eiffel Tower in 1887-1889 were taken by Petit. // // Pierre Lanith Petit (18321909) was a French photographer. He trained in the Paris studio of Eugène Disdéri. In 1858, he opened his own studio with Antoine-René Trinquart on Rue Cadet in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Branches in Baden-Baden and Marseille followed. Petit was the official photographer at the 1867 Paris Exposition. He visited New York several times, documenting the construction of the Statue of Liberty. He also took numerous photographs of the Siege of Paris in 1870/71 and of the construction of the Eiffel Tower from 1887 to 1889.
