This is a magnificent pair of huge antique French gilded metal curtain pole holders in the Empire style dating from the 1800's. They are very substantial (each one weighing nearly 1.4 kg) and would be suitable for holding a rod carrying heavy château curtains.

The fascia of each holder has a stunning acanthus leaf below which is a hinged flower garland.

Each holder has a ring to take the pole. There is a square hole and a screw hole on each backplate for fixing to a wall.

The gilding on the metal has mellowed to lovely antique hue and even has areas of verdigris.

Each pole holder measures :- H 31 cm (12.2 inches) x W 9.25 cm (3.6 inches) x D 20 cm (7.8 inches). The inside diameter of the ring is approx 4.5 cm (1.75 inches).
