Owned this car since new. Been a fabulous car but we rarely use it now the kids gave grown up and flown the nest. Reluctant to part with it as perfect for the rare occasions we need to move 7 people or large items. However, just failed its MOT ( see failure notice listing work required) and not worth me repairing but someone else may wish to or use for parts.
A number of people have requested additional information. Apologies but I can’t respond each individual request but hopefully the following will help.
I purchased the car new in 2009. Its done 154,321 miles all driven by myself. Its never failed to start, broken down or been in an accident. One very carful (Volvo) driver.
I have two keys for it.
Since around 2016 its been a spare car used intermittently as and when needed. I have added photos of the service log book. There is at least one Kwik Fit service around 2019 missing from the service record.
In early 2020 at the start of lockdown I took the car off the road to save road tax, insurance etc. It remained off road until early 2024 when it was MOT’d and put back on the road.
The car had a full service in December 2025 without problem. The same garage carried out the previous service and last 3 MOT’s including the failed MOT.
A couple of people have asked about servicing of the cambelt/timing belt. I don’t know about this. If its part of the service schedule then I would have expected it to have been done but I can’t recall (it had main dealer servicing for the first 6 years and 90,000 miles). However, if this is important to you then for the purposes of the auction please assume not.
As you will note from the MOT failure notice, there are a few failure at the front of the car. Something is loose at the front and rattles when the car is driven. The rattle is worse after the failed MOT. I assume as part of the MOT they pulled on it and made it looser. It doesn’t affect the driving.
There are no warning lights on but a computer message saying “Engine System Service Required”. This has been removed before following a service but appears to be back on and was on at the time of the failed MOT.
The car has a few known minor issues as you would expect of a car this age. For example, the heated passenger seat and 12v charger don’t work (I assume a fuse issue), the hydraulics on the rear tailgate doesn’t keep the tailgate up so it needs to be held/propped up and the wiper washer bottle has a crack in it so it doesn’t hold a full tank of water. There may be more which I haven’t noticed. However, not issues which affect the driving of the car, the MOT or which I have been minded to fix.
Other than the MOT failures I’m not aware of any major issue with the car. There is no visible oil leak etc. I drove the car to the MOT centre (about 15 miles away) and back again. The last major outing in the car was to Manchester Airport (120 miles roundtrip) in March this year were we left it for 10 days and returned home in it without problem.
The above said, this is a 2009 car sold marked “repair of spares”. I can’t provide any warranty with it. If you would like to inspect the car before the end of the auction then let me know and I will try and arrange. However, I will let the auction conclude so I’m not looking for offers. If it doesn’t sell then it will go to a family member.
