Ruby Slippers promotional postcard
The ruby slippers were worn by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz, MGM production, 1939. An anonymous buyer, who purchased them during the 18 day auction of MGM properties in 1970, donated them to the Smithsonian in 1979. This is one of several pairs of ruby slippers used in the production of the film. The slippers are hand sequined and were designed by the Hollywood costume designer Adrian.
