If you’re going to work on your own unit, I recommend you replace the O-rings and seals

They might still look good, but if they’ve already been used, they have already crushed from original installation. You should never reuse any of the O-rings on any of the pool bot units.

NOTE READ THIS

Never try to turn the gear on a gearbox by hand or with a tool you will damage the gears in the gearbox. The motor is not locked up. It is how it is designed.

When rebuilding anything on your robot you should always take pictures and make sure you know where all shims go in the gear boxes. They are very small and easy to lose.
