This early Waltham 'Wm. Ellery' Banner Grade, Model 1877, American made pocket watch is in very nice condition for over 140 years old and is running well. The visually clean movement is an 11 jewel with serial number '1377319', dating it to approx. 1880. The watch winds, sets [key wind/key set - key included], runs well and is keeping good time, though I do not know when it was last serviced. It is cased in a heavy 'Silverex' nickel alloy case with minor surface scratches, as well as some minor blemishes, but generally a low wear, attractive case. Case diameter is large at approx. 57mm [US 18 size] and it is a double backed, triple hinged model. The original porcelain dial has a sub second hand at 6 o'clock and is correct for there era, signed 'A.W. Co Waltham'. It has a couple of very faint hairline cracks, but no visible chips...it's a very nice dial for the era. The crystal is bowed and bevelled glass and appears to be a vintage replacement...it's very nice. Overall, this is a clean, solid, early example from a respected American company. It'd make a fine addition to any collection, or enjoy it as a regular user....you won't be disappointed!
