Photo Overview
Lieutenant General Calvin A. H. Waller poses in an official U.S. Army three-star command portrait taken at Fort Lewis, Washington in 1989 while he served as Commanding General, I Corps & Fort Lewis. Wearing woodland BDU camouflage with Combat Infantryman Badge and Master Parachutist wings, Waller stands before the American flag and his red three-star command flag. The 8x10 glossy color photograph is boldly inscribed and signed in black marker, “John, Best Wishes, C A Waller III 91,” confirming his personal autograph.
Waller later became Deputy Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, making him one of the highest-ranking African American officers of the Gulf War era. His leadership was widely praised by Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and the media for both strategic acumen and inspirational presence—items signed by him are scarce because he passed away in 1996 at age 58. Own this genuine piece of modern military history before someone else snaps it up.
