For sale is a truly
remarkable piece of horological and military history. I am the original
owner of this Seiko 5, having purchased it at the Long Binh PX
in Vietnam in early 1969 just before returning home.
Condition &
Performance:
- Movement: The caliber 5126 automatic movement, with 23 jewels and is in excellent working order. It has
been regularly maintained on an auto wind machine and keeps perfect time.
- Dial: Rare black sunburst dial with gold hands. Features the
"AD" (Applied Dial) marking at 6 o'clock, denoting premium
hand-applied markers.
- Crystal: Original and exceptionally clean—no visible scratches.
- Case &
Band: Original gold-tone and stainless-steel
integrated bracelet. Shows "honest wear" and minor scratching on
the case back and band with 2 deep scratches running perpendicular to the
back clasp. Please see photo. This is consistent with its 55-year history.
Never polished, preserving the original sharp factory lines.
This is a rare
"survivor" watch with verified provenance. Perfect for collectors of
Vietnam-era militaria or vintage Seiko enthusiasts looking for a documented,
single-owner timepiece.
PROVENANCE & HISTORY
- Original Purchase: Purchased new in April/May 1969.
- Location: Long Binh Military Post
Exchange (PX) in Viet Nam.
- Ownership: I am the
original and sole owner. This watch was purchased just prior to my return
stateside from my tour of duty with the 1st Infantry Division. I believe I paid $20-25.00 for it.
- It has been cared for and kept in a smoke-free environment in my gun
safe for over 55 years when it was not on the auto-wind machine.
- Note to Collector: This is not a "flea market find." It is a verified,
single-owner timepiece with a direct link to the Vietnam conflict era,
maintained in its original factory configuration.
Buyer will receive a signed copy of this document with watch.
