This beautiful stainless steel Omega Genève Automatic has a unique, delicate white Honeycomb dial in very good condition and comes with original Omega paperwork. The watch was fully serviced on 6th March 2026. This watch has excellent movement cal.552 inside the case. This calibre has been used by Omega in watches from 1958 to 1974. Designed by the talented Marc Colomb, it effectively represents a distillation of all the knowledge that had been accumulated by Omega in the area of self-winding movement technology in the post-war period. There were 316,000 pieces of this movement produced. The Genève model was first launched in 1953 to pay homage to the Canton of Geneva. It became so successful that in 1970, this line of watches represented 60% of Omega’s production. Sadly, it was withdrawn in 1979 and is no longer produced. Omega Watch Co, Swiss” is signed on the rotor. The rotor bridge features the wording “Twenty Four 24 Jewels”, while the calibre number 552 is stamped on the plate. The watch measures 33mm without the crown and 38mm lug to lug. The caseback has reference No.161.009. The first three digits stand for: 1 - Gent’s watch, 6 – Self-Winding Centre Second, and 1 – Non-Water-Resistant. If we look very carefully, below the model reference, there is the tiny maker’s mark of a coded emblem of Ervin Piquerez SA, also known as EPSA, the firm that manufactured this case. In common with Rolex, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre and its other close competitors, Omega was not a manufacturer of watch cases and instead purchased these from a small network of third-party suppliers that specialised in this field. The glass is acrylic crystal, typical of the era. The expertly refinished Honeycomb dial has golden faceted reliefs - hour markers with golden Omega 'Pencil' hands. The crown is signed with the Omega logo. The paperwork shows the watch being sold for the first time on 16th January 1965. Brand new best quality brown leather strap complements the look. This watch will arrive in a new presentation box. We give the future owner a 3-month warranty for peace of mind. Please study the pictures carefully, as these are at great magnification and reveal all imperfections that are naturally present on any vintage watch.
