DETAILS:
Case: ‘Golden Clipper’ model. Sophisticated and highly noticeable with a distinctively retro ’chunky’ bezel and round dial. Original and signed ‘BULOVA’ on the back. The all stainless steel case has been cleaned and lightly repolished. There are the initials RC to JC 12-25-72 very lightly engraved on the back. The crystal with reflector ring is original. In general, the case looks great with modest scratches/wear commensurate with age.
Crown: The recessed crown is original, showing some wear.
Dial: Very eye-catching & immaculate. The linen textured effect blue dial is in its original condition accentuating and complementing the case. The dial has a bold design. The hour positions are marked with raised steel batons with a central white stripe. The ‘Bulova’ name, whale logo, ‘swiss’, ‘automatic’ and minute chapter are in white. At the three o’clock position there is a day/date calendar window. The hour positions along with the hour & minute hands have not been relumed as they still glow well in the dark. The dial is showing age related wear, scuffs and patina.
Hands: The hour and minute hands are original, white with a luminous stripe. They are showing some age related scuffs. The sweep second hand is also original in orange.
Movement: BULOVA Swiss automatic movement. This is a fine classic 11ANACB calibre with 17 jewels, marked ‘N2’ for 1972. The movement allows for both manual and self-winding. It is designed to prevent over-winding. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.
Size: Broadly round, measures approx. 40.48mm at the widest point (excluding the crown) X 40.48mm to the recessed lugs.
Band: A new 19mm black padded leather band with bamboo textured effect and steel buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly.

This is an outstanding example of a Bulova ‘Golden Clipper’ automatic day/date watch from 1970 which has been restored to appeal once again. The bold, chunky stainless steel case with eye-catching dial make the watch highly attractive. A remarkable watch indeed which has a pleasing retro look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.

- This is a vintage manual & self-winding watch with a movement from 1972 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
