For your consideration is this vintage porcelain milk pitcher imported from Japan by Enesco Imports. Seller observed newspaper advertisements for this shape pitcher dating from 1975 until 1981. Comparable pitchers have the Enesco Japan Red and Gold foil labels adhered to the bottom, but was unable to locate copyrights or patents for this piece. The pitcher's exterior has a white and yellow ombré background and has a beautiful hand painted motif of an Oriole bird perched upon a Japanese Cherry Tree branch with little pink blossoms. The pitcher is bulbous in shape and is gently ribbed until the neck. The ornately sculpted spout and are decorated with gold splatter. The pitcher measures 4.1 inches in diameter x 5.25 inches and weighs 10.8 ounces. The internal neck diameter measures 1.9 inches. In many cultures, the Oriole symbolizes happiness and harmony. In Japanese culture, the Oriole symbolizes the arrival of spring. Seller typically enjoys using these types of vessels to hold flower arrangements and its size is perfect for kitchen tables, bathroom counters, and entryways.
