Based on the popular and reasonably priced compact-bodied T5z series, the "T5z Custom Koa" features a beautiful koa wood top! The T5 series' most distinctive pickup system includes the familiar Taylor original "Expression System" from the electro-acoustic series, plus a stacked humbucking pickup! The sound produced by the combination of a magnetic pickup embedded in the neck end and a dynamic body sensor attached to the back of the body top is so realistic that you might mistake it for an electro-acoustic guitar. The humbucking pickup delivers a powerful, punchy sound in the mid-range, allowing you to enjoy electric sounds that can even cover high-gain lead tones.

These pickups can be switched using the 5-way selector mounted on the side of the body, which is also the origin of the model name! The selector, starting from position 1 on the headstock, allows you to switch between the three types of pickup combinations. You can even switch between an acoustic-electric amp and an electric amp depending on the pickup position. Using an AB-BOX to switch amps is also recommended!

Furthermore, the controls mounted on the top of the body are extremely simple and easy to understand and use, consisting of only three controls: volume, treble, and bass boost/cut tone controls! The exquisite effect of the tone controls allows for a wide range of sound shaping depending on the pickup combination used.

Position-1 (Front PU + Body Sensor)
This is an acoustic tone with the body sensor activated.
The body sensor picks up the delicate and dynamic airiness of the body, so it is most effective when connected to an acoustic-specific amp. When connected to a regular guitar amp, the airiness is not fully captured, and the difference from Position-2 (front PU only) becomes difficult to perceive. This guitar delivers a sound that perfectly captures the subtle nuances of your picking technique.

With a flexible tone that can handle a wide range of amp settings from clean to high gain, it has a glossy and smooth feel. While a fat clean tone is interesting, the smooth sustain of a slightly stronger crunch is particularly pleasing.
Regarding the condition of this particular instrument, the gold plating on the tuning peg buttons has thinned due to polishing, and there are some faint scratches and playing wear on the body, but overall it is in beautiful condition. The frets have about 70% of their height remaining, and there are no issues with the neck condition, truss rod, or electronics, so it can be enjoyed for many years to come. Please consider it!
