Looking towards the electric market, development of electric guitars began in 1961, and production of the F-55 started in 1962. This full-hollow, thinline guitar features a pressed laminated maple body, top F-holes, two DeArmond DynaSonic pickups, and, as befits a top acoustic guitar brand, a mahogany neck. Combined with a rosewood fingerboard, it achieves a comfortable touch and excellent playability.

The DeArmond pickups produce a rich and lustrous tone, and are an excellent match for the full-hollow structure, especially for deep reverb. This guitar boasts a unique tone that combines the sparkle and power characteristic of DynaSonic pickups, similar to Gretsch and Guild guitars of the same period, with the refined nuances typical of Martin.

The pickups and electronics are in perfect working order. Typical of an acoustic guitar brand, the string height is slightly higher, at approximately 2.5mm on the 6th string side, but this contributes to a solid resonance, allowing you to experience a powerful attack and rich body tone.

While there are some minor imperfections commensurate with its age, such as missing pickup rings, small scratches, and paint tarnishing and peeling, it retains the charm and character of a vintage guitar, making it quite appealing.
