Vintage Hand-Carved Wooden Duck Decoy Signed Louisiana Regional Folk Art from PLB Collection

Vintage hand-carved and hand-painted duck decoy from a New Orleans family collection, marked with PLB for Peter Louis Bernard (PLB). Faint maker’s signature or initials present on underside, though not fully legible. Likely Louisiana or Southeastern regional folk-art carving. Strong rustic form with appealing black, gray, and white paint pattern. Displays very well. Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear from handling and display, including surface scuffs and minor paint wear visible in photos. No major structural damage noted. A nice decorative decoy for collectors of Southern folk art, hunting memorabilia, or hand-carved bird sculpture.

Peter Louis Bernard was my grandfather. He was a huge collector in the region and this is from his collection. I just don’t have a place for it in my home. I hope that it finds a great place. Thanks for looking.

The piece is signed ML. I’m just not sure who that is and can’t seem to localize the artist certainly from the southeast most likely from the Louisiana New Orleans area, which is where my family is from.
