Watches that are pre-owned with a battery change can have lower water resistance.

New installed batteries can run out of power quicker than expected do to the batteries themselves or how much draw the watch takes to run.

I do test every watch before shipping but problems can occur that are outside my control that may stop the watch from working or working correctly. 

I do offer free 60-day automatic returns if you are not satisfied or there are any problems.
