Named after Jacques Cousteau’s (if you don’t know who that is, look it up) famed “Calypso” exploration vessel, this budget-friendly 60’s diving offering has it all going for it. When ref. 6204 hit the scene in 1953, Rolex had consequently set off an arms race of dive watches for the following two decades. In the early 60’s, Titus followed suit with the ref. 5913. Taking heavy design cues from big crown Submariners, the first 5 series of the Calypsomatic remained relatively homogeneous. When the 8940 was introduced, the 37mm case was traded out for a more robust 38mm, the bezel was left in steel, and a laundry list of other differentials. Anyways, this particular example has an incredibly well aged dial and a pretty sharp case.
