Art Nouveau cast bronze miniature plaque depicting a Neoclassical figure of a woman holding a wreath and a dove. Figure depicts 19thC symbols of Love, Virtue and Sentimental Mourning. Design elements and detailed casting reflect the possible work of Victor David Brenner (American 1871-1924). Brenner was a renowned medal designer who created the iconic Lincoln Head penny in 1909. This small plaque might have been set in a small frame but a finback has been later added so it may be worn as a lapel brooch. The front has a coppery finish and the back is a rough rust color. Rectangular with corners trimmed, it measures 2 inches X 4 inches. areas of patina help to define the design and overall condition is very good. No maker mark is detected.
