In the hush of the swamp, the cypress trees lifted their mossy sleeves as if they were welcoming the moon. Fireflies stitched golden threads through the air while a sleepy alligator floated like a drifting log, pretending not to care. A chorus of frogs tuned their throats and sang to the stars, certain the sky was listening just for them. An owl blinked from a crooked branch, guarding the silver reflection of constellations shimmering in the still water. And beneath that wide, glittering night, every creature felt the swamp grow softer, as though the darkness itself were tucking them in.
