This is an enigmatic set of ceramic folk art pieces imported from Metepec, Mexico. It features a shaman, his assistant and patient along with a coiled snake, molcajete and swirling tower of incense. These pieces were made especially for curing mal aire diseases and were made with clay that the artist gathers and prepares himself, adding minute bits of cattail fiber for healing properties. The polka-dotted painting is specifically used for healing, protection and cleansing purposes and gives the piece a child like, ethereal feel. This set was made by Israel Soteno of the famous family of ceramic maestros and the pieces vary in size from approximately 2”(the molcajete) to 7 1/2”(the incense smoke). These are extremely fragile so I estimate shipping to be $30.00. I will reimburse any overpayment of shipping. All auctions are unconditionally guaranteed and proceeds benefit our animal sanctuary in northern Arizona, little orphan animals. Thank you for your support!
