PLEASE NOTE: I am selling a number of watches and parts from several collections I acquired. They are in various conditions and all are being sold 'AS IS', including this 1940's Gallet Multichron 30M Clamshell WWII Era Chronograph Serviced! , so please read my descriptions carefully before bidding or buying. I will attempt to be as accurate as possible and I also package very well, but watches are somewhat delicate by nature, so please ask questions if you're not sure what you are buying.

Also, please read my feedback and note that my BIN prices are usually under the selling point at end of auctions... this watch will look better in your hand than it does in the pics.

Easily THE most collectable Gallet wristwatch, this one is a fine example, though it has recently been brought to my attention that the dial, although aged and blemished, may not be original, but a vintage refinish. I can't confirm or deny this, except to note that the chrono chapters are not evenly spaced on the dial. However, it's interesting to me that the radium appears to be original and aged...not something a refinished dial would likely have? It may be an imperfect factory example that slipped past quality control, but because I don't know, I do not represent it to be original at this point. Also, the crystal has been replaced, but I have the original, lip edged crystal, which is intact and has no breaches, but rather than buff it [it is slightly yellowed, but still quite serviceable], I fitted it with a new crystal, for appearances sake. The original one will come with the watch. That said, this fine example of the world's first 'waterproof' chronograph [see ad picture] is not currently waterproof, but if that's your wish, I'm sure you could find someone to replace the seals and render it so. The only other thing that is arguably not original might be the crown, but I can't confirm that either. Note that, like the original crystal, any scratches on the case [and there aren't many] have also been left, rather than buffed out...and this is a fairly crisp edged case...so the true condition can be seen. The 4 'Clamshell' case screws are original, with excellent threads. Case back is numbered '129765' and shows evidence that it was worn with a one-piece nylon strap for a period, though the rare, equally great condition, stainless steel 'Champion' flex-link bracelet on it now is both period correct and, in this condition, almost as rare. The bracelet is easily and fully adjustable and snap closure is solid. However, if a leather vintage-style quality band [pictured] is your preference, I can deliver it with that instead - buyers choice! The luminous hands are also unrestored [clearly] and all hands snap back accurately to top position when reset. The watch winds, sets [stem wind/stem set], runs excellent and is keeping good time, as it has been recently serviced. Case diameter is approx. 34.5mm [as the movement, as it's name suggests, is 30mm]. I couldn't really nail down a date on this piece [they were made from 1936-51, I believe], but all indications are it's an early one, from comparing the hands to others online. I've offered this piece at what I feel is a fair market BIN price, for its condition, but also opened it to offers. I have also just lowered the BIN price to reflect that the dial may not be original. Though not common, dials are available for these watches, but they're not inexpensive. If you're not overly familiar with these watches, there's some great history/valuations on both the 'vintagewatchinc' website and on 'galletworld', as well as on Gallet's own site. It's a great example of a true survivor and looks and wears great, just as it is....you won't be disappointed!
