Press Institute Director Named LONDON — (Special) — E. J. B. Rose, of The Observer, has been named director of the In- ternational Press Institute. He will assume his post Dec. 1 at the institute's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
The institute, with a secre- tariat support- ed by grants from the Ford and Rockefeller foundations, is an organization of editors dedi- cated to strengthening the free press and inquiring into problems of international journalism.
National committees are op- erating in 21 countries and be- ing organized in about 30 more. Three research projects are now under way: a survey of the status of press freedom in the world; an investigation of the
