This is a magnificent large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating 1982. It is of superb quality and is in excellent vintage condition. It is thick and plumptious and is woven in fabulous detail and colour. It would add a wonderful finishing touch to a country house home.

The scene shows Medieval rural folk with their sheep. All around is wonderful vegetation & millefleur. 

All this splendour is surrounded by a border of flowers and leaves.

The colours are subtle shades of blue & green with pink in the costumes. 

The tapestry is woven in wool. The weaving incorporates texture to add a 3 dimensional quality. 

It is thick and heavy (it weighs over 4 kg).

It is lined and has metal rings on the back for hanging purposes.

It measures :- 167 cm (5 ft 5.75 inches) wide x 129 cm (4 ft 2.7 inches ) high.

A fantastic large tapestry wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
