This is an amazing Ghurka bag designed for very busy professionals who need to carry essential documents and prints in an organized, easy-to-access way while keeping their laptop or tablet securely. The name of the bag says it all: “Backoffice,” and truly it is a remote office. The brief has a unique double-flap closure: one with a slip-through brass locking system and key, and the other with a strap and brass tab. There are two large gusset compartments with check lining and a zipper pocket; two pen holders; a credit card or ID pocket with a flap closure and a tab; a push-through pocket; a large zipper pocket inside; and a full-length pocket in the back. The Backoffice brief was previously No. 169. But it changed to 149 in recent years. The leather on this bag is so thick and strong. It is “Ghurka Vintage Black Leather”, the best and the most expensive leather Ghurka has ever made: Tanned in an organic “tea” of mimosa and Quebracho tree barks, a fantastic choice for making any long-lasting luxury business backpack! The bag has been used with care and is in fantastic condition. We rated the inside of the bag 9.5, the outside 8.9, and the overall 9.3 out of 10. The bag comes with two shoulder straps. Founded in Connecticut in 1975 by luxury belt-and-brace designer Marley Hodgson, Ghurka has served as a symbol of superior American leather craftsmanship for over 30 years.
The origins of the Ghurka brand can be traced back to a fortuitous discovery at a British auction house in the early 1970s. Inspired by his love of history and leather craft, Hodgson bid on campaign travel gear and leather boots that had belonged to a British Ghurka officer stationed in India at the turn of the 20th century. He was so impressed by the quality of the nearly century-old leather – durable yet supple despite its age – and by the intricate craftsmanship that he was compelled to launch a line of leather accessories comparable to it. Hodgson tracked down the lost tanning formula for these boots and other accoutrements carried by the legendary Ghurka regiments and applied it to his new collection.
With a new dedicated management team, I am confident that we will see more of Ghurka, which is better and more versatile than ever. (My comment).
