This item is listed as brand new because that is the exact same way I received it. Any flaws of any kind that you might see were there when I got the item originally. 

In this case, there is a slight scuff on the bottom left corner of the front cover. The pages inside are in really nice shape. The back cover has a curl and scuff near the top left corner.

I only opened this item to take photos for you, so it has had very minimal handling by me.
