You are bidding on one of the most important paperback originals ever published. Truly, this novel transcends pulp science fiction and has become a classic of American literature. (If you’ve read it, you already know that.)
Fahrenheit 451 [and The Playground & And the Rock Cried Out] by Ray Bradbury. New York: Ballantine Books # 41, 1953. First printing.
This dime-store paperback (priced at 35¢) preceded the rare hardcover issue and the astronomically expensive asbestos limited edition.
Nice, near fine condition. Maybe one could say it’s in VG+ condition. (Is VG ++ a thing?) Apparently read once with care. Very minor spine creasing, a hint of spine lean, lightly bumped corners. The spine is too tight to open very wide and yet the paper stock inside is fairly supple. Much less yellowed than you’d expect after 73 years. No previous owners’ names, no underlining, no marks of any kind. A collectible copy, to be sure. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!
Doesn’t it seem like 2026 would be a good year to stock up on real books? The Firemen and The Hound are coming soon to a near future near you! But don’t worry, they’re not coming for your physical media. Condolences in advance for your hackable hard drive, evanescent cloud services, and presently obsolete kindle/tablet.
