Print A Quarterly Journal of The Graphic Arts, Volume 1, Number 1, June 1940.

Founded in 1940 by William Edwidge Rudge, the focus of Print was to demonstrate the importance of the printed arts. This is the premiere issue.

120 pages, 7-1/4" X10". Original softcover wraps.  Cover design by Howard Trafton. Cover design originally included a full color illustration - a 2 inch square label applied to the center of the front cover - that part of the artwork is  missing from this copy.

Spine panel has some age tanning, some edges wear and some scuffs and bumps.

Back cover has a diagonal tear at the lower right corner, a diagonal tear about 1/2 inch across and 1 inch tall.  The last three text pages also have a similar tear is increasingly smaller portions - see photos.

Spine panel has some age tanning, some edges wear and some scuffs and  bumps.  There are no former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages.   This is not a library discard. Edges of the text block are relatively clean considering the age of the publication.  Very slight concavity to the spine panel but no major creasing.

Contents include an Editorial by William Rudge on the goal of the magazine, 'Since Guttenburg' by Carl Rollins, 'Textbook Design' by L.J. Ansbacher, 'Saks Fifth Avenue Advertising' by Ruth Fleischer, and many more articles. There is an insert demonstrating some of the possibilities of current printing technology - all inserts are intact and without creases or writing.  The 'Contents' page is included in the attached photos.

Attached are several photos of the copy we have in our inventory.
