Spinosaurus is a genus of Theropod Dinosaur.  The best known species are S. Aegyptiacus from Egypt
and S. Maroccanus from Morocco. They lived in what is now North Africa during the Cretaceous period about 97.4 million years ago.  This was among the largest of all known carnivorous dinosaurs.  Some estimates suggest it could reach lengths of 50 feet and weighed up to 7 tons.

Spinosaurus is known to have eaten fish and most scientists believe it hunted on land as well as in water.  Its anatomy suggests its long tail was used to slap water to herd and stun shoals of fish before devouring them and would be very useful to knock out would be competitors.
