Synopsis: The movie tells the story of Jingbo, a busy company director whose relationship with his young wife, Ling Ao, suffers. Misunderstandings grow as he suspects the company's financial director and Ling Ao's former lover, Ming Bingkun, of embezzling 30 million USD. Ling Ao, unhappy with her husband, is sent home by a stranger after he gets drunk at a bar. Encouraged by her friend Tai, she reconciles with her husband. He promises a trip to Paris and a birthday card, but before the trip, she receives a strange call from the stranger, and Jingbo suddenly jumps to his death, leaving a simple suicide note. Ling Ao, overwhelmed, decides to reveal her secret to the police and investigate the death, the missing money, and a mysterious computer password in the birthday card.

This film shares its name with a famous time-travel novel that was later adapted into a popular 2011 Chinese television series and a 2016 South Korean drama.
