Made in USA Allen Edmonds Grayson tassel slip on loafers in rare discontinued Horween natural shell cordovan. JR soles with custom toe taps and removable plastic heel taps installed. Dovetail heels. Worn once for a graduation ceremony then stored in cedar shoe trees ever since. These are marked F2 seconds because the toes were burnished too heavily at the factory when new. With a lot of elbow grease I was able to restore them to immaculate condition. Unfortunately a half size too small for me. Box, dust bags, cedar shoe trees included.
Just look at the still new condition of the tassels which are tight and unsplayed. Look at the makers marks still clearly visible imprinted on the soles. The shells are pristine, it’s no wonder they were chosen for a natural clear glazed finish. The linings and sizing stamps are clean and clear. The footbed unimbedded and ready to accommodate your foot compression. Look at the transparent clear natural edge dressing that shows the layers of industry leading JR leather used. They will be a prized part of your collection.
I used to have a wonderful contact at the corporation that would call me whenever rare or special makeups would come in or when I needed to place a special make up order (please see other rare listings). This style of natural shell cordovan is super rare and not made anymore. Don’t confuse it with bourbon. This the OG natty shell from Horween.
Yes they were worn once for a few hours for a graduation ceremony. I used a thin layer insole to protect the footbed from compression. I tried to make them work being loafers a half size small I figured I could, but no. I have added value with the bags and trees and taps along with keeping the original box and papers inside. Sad to see these go.
As far as I’m concerned they were incorrectly labeled seconds due to the heavy toe burnishing they originally came with. I removed that entirely down to the original natural finish. Recraftable and long lasting shell cordovan. Hope these special makeups ups go to a special home that will get more use out of them than I was able to and to someone who knows the significance of impeccable clear shells. Enjoy!
