This is a wonderfully expressive set of four vintage folk art pottery pieces, consisting of three mugs and one matching pitcher, each sculpted with unique, character-filled faces. Every piece is handmade and signed “N.R. 82” on the underside, indicating they were crafted in 1982 by an individual artisan potter.
The pottery appears to be stoneware or terracotta, finished with a thick, rustic, and slightly variable glaze that gives the set great handmade charm and authenticity. The pitcher stands about 7 inches tall, and the mugs measure approximately 4 inches high each. The glaze tones range from earthy browns to golden hues, with carefully modeled facial features including mustaches, noses, and expressive eyes — a nod to the traditional Southern face jug and ugly mug folk art styles.
All pieces are in very nice vintage condition with no major damage. One mug has a small flake or chip (possibly from firing), shown clearly in the photos. Otherwise, the set displays beautifully and would make a wonderful addition to any folk pottery, grotesque art, or face jug collection.
Please check photos closely for condition and specifications. All included items will be pictured. Shoe trees in listings for shoes and boots are not included.
