This listing is for the pair of framed high relief porcelain plaques that you see in the photos. I purchased them at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told their history. Some research has led me to guess that they were made in the 1950's and that the style is Victorian Revival or Capodimonte. They are not marked but I did find a similar pair on Worthpoint that were labeled "Andrew Kolb & Son N.Y.C.." I leave it to the buyer to decide when they were made and what the style is.
The frames each measure close to 14 3/4 by 20 3/4 inches. Each framed plaque weighs close to 6 pounds 14.4 ounces. The colors of the porcelain generallly look more like the lighter color photos than the darker ones.
The condition is much like you see it in the photos. They might benefit from a careful cleaning. The porcelain is not chipped or cracked or scratched. The dark mark on one of the woman's arms is only a bit of gold paint from when it was painted. The velvet background on both might be a little faded. Otherwise, it is fine. Dark areas in the photos are only shadows. The gesso on one corner of one frame is chipped. Some paint and the thin layer of gesso along the back edge of the frames is missing in some areas. About 3/4 of that damage is shown in my close-ups.There is some damage to the paper backing on the frames. Otherwise, these items are fine and as shown.
I guarantee this plaque to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them. I allow two business days for shipping, but I usually ship the same or next day if possible. Please note that the lighting in my photos is uneven, and there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors; different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs "approximately" because no measurements are exact, and some things are difficult to measure.
I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied. I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation. I sometimes purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. I often, but not always, ship the same or next day. Often, I have a double-walled box custom made for larger items, which might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually made from biodegradable materials.
Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends, and I might not be available to answer emails on weekends.
