for sale as pictured: an eclectic collection of children's card games produced between the 1950s and 1980s, by various companies in the US and Britain. All the decks are complete. Here's a list:
Hearts Card Game: miniature deck still in original packaging including cellophane wrap and a plastic case. Cards are about 2" x 1 1/4". Unbranded, made in China, features a cartoon rabbit on the top card.
Old Maid Card Game: miniature deck in cardboard slip case. A Peter Pan card game manufactured by Whitman (a division of Western publishing). Cards are about 2 5/8" x 1 3/4". Cards feature traditional humorous cartoon characters.
Donkey: small card deck in card stock box. Unbranded. Likely British-produced. Donkey is a version of Old Maid common in the UK. Cards are about 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Both the box and the cards are relatively roughly cut; the cards do not have plastic coating. These were probably impulse purchases in a toy or drug store ("chemist's") in the 1950s or 1960s. Registration is loose but cards are bright and vibrant.
Snap: Same manufacturer as "Donkey" above. Similar condition as well.
Crazy Eights Card Game: mid-century Whitman version of the game in card stock box (no plastic case). 36 card deck edition. Printed in the 1970s or later. Cards are in excellent condition. Cards feature cartoon circus characters. Cards are 3 1/2" x 2 1/2".
Animal Rummy: same manufacturer (Whitman) and collection and size as Crazy Eights (above), but an earlier, pre-barcode printing. Card stock box, no plastic case. Cards feature cartoon animal characters.
Spots and Stripes: mid-century Pla-Mor card game in card stock box. Pla-Mor was the kiddie imprint of the Arrco Playing Card company, popular producers of standard, canasta, and pinochle card decks. Brightly colored cards, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". This is a rare item -- Arrco produced far fewer children's games than other companies in the space. The deck is complete but there is noticeable wear to the cards themselves -- creasing, rough edges. Playable but not mint.
Old Maid Circus Edition Card Game: 1959 Edu-Cards game featuring the classic Old Maid with colorful cartoon circus characters on the cards. Game is complete and in excellent condition. Cards also feature "flip movie backs" -- put in order, you can flip the cards to see a short animation.
Snap Card Game: 1970s or 80s Whitman edition, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" in plastic case. 45 card deck is complete; cards are in excellent clean and crisp condition. Brightly colored animal cartoon characters on the cards.
Hearts Card Game: 1970s or 80s Whitman edition, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" in plastic case. Also a bright, crisp, complete 45-card deck.
This is a neat collection of classic games, great for ephemera enthusiasts or kids who want a fun activity without screens. All are in playable condition; most are excellent. All are complete. See photos for details of the lot.
