420 is an internationally recognized holiday and daily excuse for Stoners, Pot Heads and even the recreational marijuana user to light up, toke up and blaze a blunt on their way to the euphoric High-Way of mental freedom. Or is it an evil path to mental anguish, despair, desperation, crime and even death? The 420 Triple Feature takes on a trip down memory lane with some of the best, most idiotic, hilarious and downright absurd ""educational"" films on the subject of marijuana use.

While vacuuming in Tom's bedroom, his mother finds a joint hidden in a box. When his parents question him about it, high schooler Tom admits that it is his, but denies that he is morally depraved because of or due to smoking marijuana, which he has only been doing for a few weeks. Tom defends his use of marijuana, and sees his parents' beliefs against it as hypocritical as they smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol, substances which Tom sees as comparable in terms of their negative connotations. Tom's father does not deny the risks associated with his own activities, but still sees the many dangers for Tom, a teenager, to be smoking marijuana. As such, Tom and Tom's father enter into a negotiation, the result being an experiment where Tom is to do his own research on the effects of marijuana. Although Tom's father would rather he go through conventional literature to do this research, Tom instead decides to travel around within the world of marijuana, from going to pot parties to visiting with dealers to watching individuals under the influence go about their day-to-day lives, and critically view this world through clean eyes. Tom may or may not come out of the experiment with a different view of smoking pot, especially for someone his age

The negative effects of illicit drug use on society are shown, especially the increasing problem of drug addiction among teens. The sources of heroin, cocaine and marijuana are shown and the effects of each on the body are discussed, with heroin being the most insidious in its addictive qualities, an addict who requires more and more to satisfy his urges in his body getting used to the drug within his system. The effects of drug use on an Everyman teen is dramatized, Marty Demalov who started smoking marijuana with friends before his dealer "friend" introduced him to heroin, giving it away at first until Marty got hooked and thus would do anything, including turning to petty crime, to afford to support his habit.

Sonny Bono appears onscreen to tell kids that marijuana is a "bummer" that turns you into a "weedhead" and will make you "trip out" (the fact that, based upon his performance, Sonny appears to have ingested unknown substances before the cameras started rolling tends to limit the film's crediblity somewhat).
