This handset runs Android 7.1 (Nougat). It meets the minimum requirement for several key messaging apps. Google's own apps (Chrome, Maps, Gmail) still install and run, but the Play Store may serve a slightly older, still-supported build rather than the newest release. Several major social apps have raised their minimum requirement well beyond Android 7.1 and will not install.
