I haven't the slightest idea what this nifty looking device does or what it's used for. There's a pointed piece that swings on a graph of some sort; there are two side pieces that lift up and down; there are 2 strangely shaped separate small pieces built into the case. The piece fits precisely, into one side of the velvet lined case. The other side of the case has a small tab, and has two folded pieces of paper with a graph and Japanese writing. The black case itself has a lovely silver catch and fainted embossed Japanese icons.

The case, when closed is approx. 6 1/4" x 3"
