A biographical work on Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, a British flag officer in the Royal Navy whose leadership, strategic prowess, and unconventional tactics brought about a number of decisive British naval victories during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest naval commanders in history.
Written by Robert Southey, an English poet of the Romantic school, and Poet Laureate from 1813. Southey was also a prolific letter writer, literary scholar, essay writer, historian and biographer, with this volume having rarely been out of print since its original publication.
CONDITION
Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards with light loss to the head and tail of the spines. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper of volume one with a small wax stain to the front endpaper of volume two.
