AUSTRALIAN 1981 50 CENT COIN

ROYAL WEDDING

The 1981 50 cent coin commemorates the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

It features conjoined profiles of the Prince and Princess on the reverse, with the inscription "H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER FIFTY CENTS".

The reverse of the coin, designed by Stuart Devlin, depicts the conjoined profiles of Prince Charles and Lady Diana while the obverse features the second portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Arnold Machin, facing right, with the inscription "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1981".

The coin was struck by the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Wales, due to industrial issues at the Royal Australian Mint. The coins composition is cupro-nickel and has a diameter of 31.5 mm.

These coins are in excellent condition carefully lifted from low circulation and safely safely stored in a private collection.
