MALOSI early story

Brothers Jon & Niko combined their love for art and top water fishing when they started creating the first range of Malosi prototypes in Jon’s spare bedroom at AUSTRALIA. Lures made in these formative years were handcrafted from timber, following a meticulous and time-consuming process developed over many years.


The present

Following the success of their prototyping years, the brothers formally founded Malosi in 2020 and started to develop their process for sale. They spent almost two years testing developing an all-new way of building lures, one that would see all models reworked and digitized, new materials sourced and explored, new tech introduced, and a completely new production process built from the ground up.

At this moment, the MALOSI STUDIO team can produce and export the ORIGINAL 100% HANDMADE lures they made them popular at Australia and the rest of the world can get these amazing products on their hands!


The CHIEFTAIN lure

The Chieftain is the original Malosi floating stickbait design. Featuring the signature cut mouth and minimal weighting, it sits horizontal on the surface unlike a lot of other floating sticks that rest tail down.

Requiring next to no effort, this stickbait can be fished all day with ease; sweep, pop or straight retrieve, the Chieftain will dig in just under the surface and swim seductively, even in chop or at heights where most traditional floating stick-baits cannot be used effectively.

This lure is crafted from solid Paulownia encapsulated in a hard resin shell, with 2mm stainless steel through wire and multiple layers of tough protective coating for the ultimate durability.


CHIEFTAIN Swim Action: The difference which makes the difference!

The Chieftain is different to most traditional floating sticks in that it sits horizontal on the surface at rest and has a natural swim action built in. Requiring next to no effort, this stickbait can be fished all day with ease; sweep, pop or straight retrieve, the Chieftain will dig in just under the surface and swim seductively, even in chop or at heights where most traditional floating stickbaits cannot be used effectively.


CHIEFTAIN Rigging Options: 

Chieftains swim best when rigged with a treble on the belly and single on the back, this combination frees up the action of lure and allows for a wider more aggressive S swim.

In general double singles will lighten the lure, giving it a wider more slashing action that is slightly more unstable, where-as adding double trebles will dampen the base action a little due to the weight but has the obvious advantage of more hook points to secure the fish.
