INTRODUCTION
Clinch fasteners are used in conjunction with stamped or fabricated metal assemblies. They are used extensively in both automotive and non-automotive applications They are captive-style fasteners that – upon installation – become a permanent part of the mating assembly.
Various clinch fastener designs are available. Popular options include traditional self-clinching fasteners and Anchor® Rivet Bushes.
Design considerations include the required push-out and torque performance, mating material type (including ductility, hardness, and thickness), space constraints and/or proximity to material edge. Clinch fasteners offer many benefits including mitigating the need for loose hardware, facilitating final assembly, and ensuring ease of repair and/or disassembly.
PSM SELF CLINCHING STAND OFFS
Designed to serve as spacers or distance pieces. A simple squeezing action embeds the hexagonal head into the sheet causing the displaced metal to flow into the clinching groove. Easy to install because no special tooling is necessary. However, it is very important to note that they must always be installed by a squeeze action press rather than a hammer blow. Punched holes are always recommended.
