c.1890s-1900s Lovely Original Pennsylvania Dutch
Fraktur-Style Painting
Tulip/Onion Motif
Ink & Gouache on Screen-Laid Browned Artist Paper
Suitable for Framing
Size as Shown in Photo (with Ruler)
Provenance: This was purchased from an established auction house in the Amish region of Pennsylvania. It was part of a portfolio of similar paintings, all by the same unidentified artist working in this ink-and-gouache medium. Based on the age of the paper, the paintings are believed to be from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. They are all old reproductions by this artist following the form and style of 19th-century Frakturs.
[ CONDITION... ]
- Lovely antique condition, from a non-smoking environment. Well preserved, with no moisture damage or any signs of abuse.
- Age fragility to the paper, normal age toning/browning, and some chipping, edge tears, and minor age loss at the edges not affecting the central artwork.
The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep
in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we
all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please
expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.
