Sweater Thick Winter Women M/L

This is a beautiful blue vintage sweater ~ I think from the late 70s ~ with pewter clasps and lacing at the collar. It is labeled a women's size large, but I wonder if it may fit more like a medium ~ please check the measurements below.  It is thick and not that soft ~ more the scratchy kind of wool, so you'd want to wear a layer under it.
