INTRODUCTION

Clinch fasteners are used in conjunction with stamped or fabricated metal assemblies. They are used extensively in both automotive and non-automotive applications They are captive-style fasteners that – upon installation – become a permanent part of the mating assembly. 

Various clinch fastener designs are available. Popular options include traditional self-clinching fasteners and Anchor® Rivet Bushes.

Design considerations include the required push-out and torque performance, mating material type (including ductility, hardness, and thickness), space constraints and/or proximity to material edge. Clinch fasteners offer many benefits including mitigating the need for loose hardware, facilitating final assembly, and ensuring ease of repair and/or disassembly.

PSM MINIATURE ANCHOR RIVET BUSH

Ideal for material too thin to accommodate a self-clinching nut. Instead of being clinched, the shank is riveted on the backside of the material. Also appropriate for installation into high-strength materials.

The MINARB® is a miniature ANCHOR® RIVET BUSH designed for applications where space or distance to the sheet edge is at a premium. Weight saving is one reason the MINARB® may be selected. A standoff version (MINOFF) allows the body length to be specified, thus providing a captive threaded pacer. MINARB® can be installed using both an “impact” and a “squeeze” action, allowing both hand and machine installation. Sheet hardness is not critical as the Bush deforms rather than the sheet, during installation.
