Beautifully joyful hand-embroidery by the Otomi, an indigenous people of the central highlands of Mexico. Features an array of animals, birds, fish and plants that celebrate nature. Bought on a trip to the Yucatan in 2014 from a shop in Merida that stocked artisan crafts from across the country. Briefly on display in my home, pinned to the wall, then folded away in a storage cupboard. No visible damage apart from tiny holes where the pins/nails held it. Measures 89cm x 71cm.
