This is a gorgeous single antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold back dating from about 1880.

It is of generous proportions and would take a substantial curtain.

It is of nice quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The fascia of the hook is a mass of fabulous acanthus leaf scrolls. The backplate has an acanthus leaf crest and the hook is further decorated with acanthus leaf detail.

The hold back has a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging it on a hook. It also has a hole to take a screw.

It measures :- H 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) x W 7 cm (2.75 inches) x D 21 cm (8.25 inches).
